Introduction:

Welcome to the battle zone.

I know, there have been a slew of other stories that started out similar to this one, possibly with those same words. But this one is different. if even by just a narrow margin. Even as a I sit here writing this, the battles wage across the continent. But this is the world that I live in now. It's the way things are these days. Violence is everywhere. Every citizen has been reduced to fighting just to survive in the every day life. The only people who 'have it made' are the ones in the military. And just that fact alone brings hordes of numbers to their doors every day, looking for a way to escape from the doom that is life outside. And if not to the military, they run to the doors of the local warlords that fight constantly against the military, and each other, for control of resources and land. it is a constant struggle for control, for life, and for freedom. But I guess to understand how things are now, you would have to know how things were.

It used to be, back in the 'Good old days' that things went pretty simply. No one really cared about what happened outside of their own little 'bubble'. As long as it didn't effect them, they didn't care. It was this mentality that got the problems started. And no one even really noticed until it was too late to do anything about it. Every election brought further decay to the country as the foundation of it's government eroded away like sand in a strong current. Each president promised change and reform and solutions to the problems we face. They never told anyone how bad things really were. And no one listened to the ones who DID try to tell them. So, when the government finally collapsed in upon itself, the country didn't understand why. Panic ensued... The entire population of a country turned into raving lunatics overnight, all panicked over the fact that no one could tell them what was happening and how to stop it. It was worse then the 'Great Depression' could even have imagined. An entire country grinding to a halt in less then a week as banks closed, food supplies dried up, electricity shut down... all of it was gone. The US had fallen back into a proverbial stone age.

The only people who were able to overcome the overwhelming catastrophe were those who had planned for it. They had all the supplies they needed to survive for years without anyone's assistance. And they quickly gained recognition and power due to their resources. These people were the ones who became the 'all powerful warlords' of the country. Then there was the US military. Even without a president, the US military was able to function, sustain itself, and even flourish in the wake of the disaster. They had resources for... well for an army, quite frankly. Their numbers swelled tremendously within even the first weeks of the disaster. The military withdrew every last troop from any overseas engagements or posts, leaving empty husks of bases behind for the local population to occupy once they left. What was the point of being overseas when back home was quickly turning into a hell hole worse then any they were stationed in. The military quickly took control of all the major cities and surrounding areas, in some cases going so far as to control entire states to themselves. These were the lucky places. Even though Martial Law ruled, it was better then the anarchy and chaos the boiled around them with the war lords. And even as their soldiers died, there was always a multitude more willing to take their place, just for the opportunity for three hot meals a day and a cot to sleep on in relative peace.

The War Lords didn't make things so easy. Inside a warlords territory, it was always a constant struggle, for power, for food, for resources. It was 'Kill or be killed' everywhere you went. But it made sure that only the strong, or incredibly smart, survived. That was how they all wanted it. That was how they wanted it to stay. But over time, their resources started dwindling and they were forced to expand outward to control more land, and there for more resources to sustain their growing armies of ruthless thugs, scum, and villainy. But as their growth continued, it brought the attention of the military. The heads of the Military branches found it to be a threat that these War Lords were encroaching on their border lines, so the military decided that they needed to show these men that the US military meant business in protecting its borders. And so, when the War Lords finally closed to the military lines, they were pushed back, brutally

Common Frame Information:All art in this section is credited to the artists of Deviantart.com. i will go through later and list all their names.

Dire Frames are the most common vehicle for mechanized combat in this time period. Dire Frames are basically a Bipedal Tank, usually mounting several weapons paltforms and advanced sensors and radar. The Frame pilot sits inside the frame in a tight fiting cocpit. Frames are controled through the use of standard control yokes (sticks), pedals, and the use of an advanced Nueral Helmet. This helmet feeds information about a fram straight into the pilot's head. This helmet also allows the pilot control beyond the standard control systems, forming the Frame into, essentially, a second body for the pilot to use. The sensor pallets of a Frame make up a holographic image across the visor of the pilot's helmet, acting like the eyes of the suit. But with most Frames, there are failsafe veiwports for the pilot to use if the sensors were to fail for some reason.

This post contains the pertinent information of the most common classes of Dire Frames that are used on the battle field. The US Military has the most access to these units and employes them widely. The ones that Warlords are able to get their hands on are generally outdated, patchwork peices with hod-podge weapons. While still potent weapons platforms, they are never quite up to snuff with the military equivilents.

Acronim Dictionary:
All the acronims in a weapon descrition are done in two to three leatter acronims as described here:
BALLISTIC WEAPONS

AC - Auto Cannon
RAC - Rotary Auto Cannon
RG - Rail Gun
BLC - Breech Loading Cannon
SB - Single Barrel
MB - Multi Barrel

AMMO TYPES
HE - High Explosive (accompanied by one of the following three)
1. ND - No Delay
2. MD - Micro Delay
3. LD - Long Delay
AP - Armor Peircing
DS - Discarding Sabot
FS - Fin Stabalized
DU - Depleted Uranium

MISSLE WEAPONS
ST-Sensor Tracking
HT-Heat Tracking
RT-Radar Tracking
SG-Self Guided
RG-Radar Guided
NG-Non-Guided
HP-High Penetration
MD-Micro Delay
ND-No Delay
PD-Paused Deplay
FAB-Fuel Air Burst
AB-Air Burst
AT-Anti-Tank
AF-Anti-Frame
SW-Single Warhead
MW-Multiple Warhead
IF-Indirect Fire
LR-Long Range
MR-Medium Range
SR-Short Range
HY-High Yeild
MY-Mid Yeild
LY-Low Yeild

Armor Rating Understanding:
Each class of Frame has differnt armor classes. All classes are divided into three groups; High, Moderate, and Low. therefore, an Assualt Class Frame, while having a high level of armor compared to a Light Frame, might not have as much as another Assualt Frame, so it woudl be designated as a Heavy (Moderate) becuase it is a middle ground in the Assualt Class. This division is prevolent throughout all classes of vehicles, from Frames to Jeeps to Jets.

The Frame Specifications Section will be laid out into three Tiers: Low Class, Mid Class, and High Class. Each class determines the price level at which the Frames are sold, this dictates the frequency of the Frame in common use.

The Badlands pilots are generally stuck with using almost all Low to Mid Class Frames. High Class Frames are reserved for a Warlords Ace pilots who are not at a high risk for being destroyed. Most Badland Forces are Stuck with using traditional armored vehicles such as tanks and APCs for the bulk of their fighting force.

Military Pilots use frames of all kinds for various missions. The military has the money to be able to buy any Frames that are needed for any situation, lending to great diversity among their ranks.

Combat Vehicle Information

TANKS

There is a tremendous variety of tanks in the world. Tanks from every country of every type littered around the country working for both the military and the warlords. Tanks can come in any shape or size and can mount a tremendous variety of weapons, from large bore auto cannons to rail guns to missle racks. There have been no stealth tanks developed ever for either side of the struggle, but there have been lighting fast light tanks used for recon and lightning raids against military supply depots.

VTOLS

VTOLS range from Helicopters to Hovercraft in their movement methods. These craft are just as varied as any tank, but they are, of course, airborne. VTOLs can hover when needed and are, generally, very manuverable. They are used as combat aircraft frequently, mounting weapons of all kinds, or ferrying troops to a battle. Others are used as cargo haulers or recon aircraft. VTOLS can come in almost any shape and size for the most part and are seen in wide use throughout the country.
