A Puppet and her Master [Mature/Pending Transfer]
« on: November 24, 2008, 11:11:05 AM »
There was something hypnotic about sitting in the dark, watching a young, beautiful ballet dancer strut her feet gracefully across the dusty floor, her toes skimming and sliding, never letting her heels or soles touch the ground.  She knew he was there, yet never dared glance once at him, instead staying in her own world of music and flare, constantly thinking about her next hop and move, where she would travel to next on her stage.
The soft, charming atmospheric tune of ambience helped her legs swing in time, and her will to impress her teacher, to show she was the best at what she did.  And Nachnamen agreed with her.  It was two years ago when the then-sixteen year old Adalinda Kapp walked in to his life and changed it forever, since then everything else never mattered, only her.

The soothing song slowly fluttered to a halt, and there was silence in the large room.  Nachnamen remainded seated for a few minutes, quietly judging her performance in front.  Of course it was brilliant, of course he loved it.

She knew he was there, watching her in the dark spots of the room where no light shone. She used to always get flustered when he watched her, always was very self concious about everything, ever step she took, every leap and twirl she gave. Sometimes it caused her to mess up, embaress herself and spill on the floor or miss a step and everything would be ruined. Infact, that's how things had went when he first saw her. Adalinda had been dancing outside on the blacktop of a park to her own music that played in her head. She had always loved ballet and had done everything she could on her own to learn, to try and be good without ever taking professional lessons. Her mother was all for the idea of her being a dancer, but her father... as much as she loved the man didn't hold the same opinion. Thought she'd be better off becoming a doctor, or a nurse. Something that would actually get her somewhere in life. So, on her own she danced.
On the day they had met, Adalinda had been aware of Nachnamen watching her, but she didn't pay attention to him. Everyone always stopped and watched. Some said she was great, but she never believed it. She couldn't be great if nobody would convince her father it was something she should take on. But, the longer she danced and he stood there, just watching she began to feel very... self concious of what she was doing, was she making every step right? Over thinking what she was doing, Adalinda ended up tripping herself and tumbled to the blacktop. The man had come over then, and spoke to her. Helped her up with a friendly smile. Explained to her that he was very impressed with her preformance, which had caused butterflies to take flight in her stumach. He explained to Adalinda that he was a teacher, and had been interested in finding himself some new students. He wondered if she had a teacher, and Adalinda told him she didn't, how her father refused to pay for it or even let her get into it. Nachnamen had promised her to speak with her father.
And, he did.
A week later she had been enrolled into Nachnamen's class. That was two years ago. Now, she was becoming the greatest she could be with the help of the only man she could ever love. He had taken her under his wing and shown that he believed in her, let her shine. Things were great, life was good for her. He was hard, but it was only because he cared. She knew that. He just wanted her to become the best, recieve the glory she deserved.
The song stopped and Adalinda came to a halt, taking in a deep breath she pulled a few loose strands of her red hair from her face, turning to give Nachnamen a smile, but it dissapeared at his words. He was right, she hadn't been practicing. Things were getting harder to do with her father. He was now beginning to grow more and more unpleasent about her lessons, staying late to get 'extra help'  with certian areas. It was to the point only her mother convinced him to not make her drop the classes, but Adalinda wasn't allowed to talk about it inside the house, or even practice. Her father refused to let her go out to practice. She was basically locked to her house except for work, where she did her best to practice on her breaks.
Adalinda didn't want to make Nachnamen upset, she hated seeing him so upset, mad at her. It felt like she was betraying him. Looking up at his strong complexion she stared into his deep blue eyes. They were hard as iron but there was still that small flame that always shone when he looked at her, it was the love he held for her glowing there.
Her cheek stung from his slap, tears filling her eyes from the slap that left her skin red. Her hand touched it gingerly, her lower lip beginning to slightly tremble. "N-no.. I'm sorry H-Heinrich it's just.. m-my papa... he's making it so hard for me to practice right now. I-I'm sorry. I'll t-try harder. I s-swear."

There was a further snap on skin-on-skin contact, this time on her opposite cheek, crimsoning it to match the other.  Nachnamen

Her hand fell to her side with the easy brush of his hand, more tears replacing the few that he had just wiped away. Of course, he'd blame her for it. It was always her fault. It had to be true if he was saying it, Heinrich never lied to her. He never would. It was a promise he had made, a promise she had made. Never to lie to one another. It helped to keep their relationship alive... never having to doubt one another, wonder what the other was thinking. Whenever he asked, she always told him what was on her mind, what she was thinking about. He only told her when he felt like she needed to know. It had been three weeks since she'd last seen him, and she hardly got a smile out of him the whole time they'd been together that day. Now, their day was drawing to a close and she hated knowing that she'd be going home in tears because he was so unhappy with her. She would probably end up crying herself to sleep again, frusterated and angry with herself for letting him down.
She shook her head, even though he didn't notice as he walked away. She wouldn't give up. She refused to. If she did, Adalinda would hardly be able to see Heinrich. She couldn't let that happen. It was almost as if he had struck her with a sharp, burning object, the way her heart constricted in her chest, the look of pain and shock, turning into pure hatred that found its way onto her beautiful face. There was no way that stupid girl wanted this more than her. No way in hell. That stupid Russian was just jealous of what they had, something she couldn't have. She was trying to steal Nachnamen from her, and she wouldn't let her do it.
Oh how she hated that smaller, thinner, stupid girl. She didn't have to watch her. Adalinda could do better. She -would- do better. Putting Katya back in the dark again where she belonged. Away from her dear Heinrich and the spotlight that belonged to her, and her alone.
Watching Nachnamen walk out of the room, she hurried to her bag that rested alone on the woodenchair that sat beside the one her lover had just occupied and pulled out her jacket, kicking off her slippers and slipped into her white runners letting her hair fall down from it's bun into a wave of red down her back. Forcing her tears back to where they came from, she wiped a shaking hand across her eyes before making her way after him, knocking on his office door before stepping in.

Nachnamen looked up at the door as it opened slowly, Adalinda appearing in the doorframe.  He smiled gently and motioned for her to continue coming in, and close the door behind her.

Her fingers had clasped around the paper as Nachnamen handed it to her. She already knew what it was. Oh how only she had seen so many of them like it before. It was her answer to every aganozing moment of his harsh teacher ways towards her, the reason why she could never look her father straight in the eyes and tell him she'd never lie to him again. It was the paper that told her for a short amount of time, things were going to be great, everything she didn't want would be behind her and it would only be the two of them in the world, they'd be the only ones to matter until the final seconds. Adalinda already couldn't wait, it put excitment in her belly, made her feel light headed and almost giddy. But, she wouldn't show it. She didn't need to. He could see it in her eyes. How they lit up everytime she was handed the paper that saved them. Oh how she couldn't wait, it had been such a long time now it seemed since their last trip. She had stopped giving her father the papers, he always demanded to know why they seemed to have so many trips, to such... higher up places.
Adalinda wasn't even sure if they've ever gone to the places on the papers, she never paid much attention. They just went somewhere, together. That's all that mattered. Pocketing the paper as Heinrich came towards her, she placed her smaller arms around his middle, looking up at his very male structured face. She couldn't wait to just... lie in his arms, letting her fingers trace across his skin, along the curve of his lips again... the height problem didn't bother her as much as it would other people. From afar, it would be easy to see the difference, even the age difference because of how much taller he was than her. Her frame didn't scream anything about being underdeveloped, so being a short older woman was out of the question. Everything was better though when she could wear her heels. The ankle breaking, heel tormenting structures she adored so much.
Heinrich was right more than he knew of course, Adalinda hadn't told him but her Father had been telling his suspicions to her mother who just tried to wave it off like nothing was wrong. How he believed there was something sinful about, and that Nachnamen was luring his daughter into a trap. What sort of trap she couldn't possibly imagine. Nachnamen would never hurt her, she knew it. Maybe in cruel words, but that was only when he was teaching her. It was understandable now that she could think about it without his cruel voice, the frown that would crease his forehead. He only wanted her to become the best like he said. And she would, for herself, for him.
Adalinda pressed her forehead into the man's chest when he ran his fingers through her hair, taking in a deep breath. It was the same promise, the same words only different, and held a stronger meaning. Before, they held little truth, little promise and hope. Now, he said them with such sincerity, with more determination she believed their time was getting closer. She couldn't wait, oh how Adalinda couldn't wait.
"He wouldn't have to... give it to me so to say." Adalinda said suddenly, her voice muffled from his shirt. Lifting her head, she rested her chin against him looking up into his blue eyes. "Papa leaves some in this box in his office... I know the combination, I've watched him for the past while..." she turned a soft scarlet colour telling her lover her secret of betrayal to her father. "I didn't want to leave it all up to you Heinrich... I could steal it if we need it."

Ada closed her eyes feeling his hands move through her long hair. He had such a gentle touch when he wanted. It made her heart flutter each time he did it, a simple touch and she just wanted to melt. But, his words were true. It was a risky thing to do. Dangerous, and he didn't say it; but possibly stupid. Adalinda was glad though, to hear the note of concern that was in his voice when he spoke to her. The fact that Heinrich cared about the trouble she could get into for it, even though it was an easy way to get the money gave her another reminder of why she loved him, why she couldn't just turn away from the older man and let him continue on with his life before she had come into it. Despite the fact she felt so bad for his wife... who didn't know anything about what was going on, she couldn't turn away. Their love was something special. Something that shouldn't be turned a blind eye on. "Think about it..." She whispered softly. "Once we're gone, he wouldn't ever find us anyways..."

Adalinda was to the near point of exhaustion from the practice. She refused to look over at Nachnamen as she danced, didn't want to see the dissapointed look she knew he'd be wearing on that face of his. It was always there when she looked over. Maybe it was because she was looking, or maybe it was because she was just always doing something wrong and didn't know about it until the end when he decided he'd make her do it all over again.
She'd been here for hours just dancing, repeating steps each time the song ended and she had to start up again. Always trying to perfect something in her steps, in a movement of her arms, the expression on her face to make it even better, or not so messy. It was getting harder to do though, with each continous step. From the heat of the room, and the stress she was feeling from trying so hard to make him happy, it was beginning to make her feel just a bit light headed, making her legs feel just a little like jelly. She didn't show it though, Adalinda didn't want him to be dissapointed with her for that, god forbid he find out just how tired and exhausted she was beginning to feel. No, she pressed on trying her damnedest to make things better.
When the music came to it's final note, her slippers touched the ground and she turned at his voice, a little worried by the note of tone in which he spoke to her. Clasping her hands infront of her as she walked towards him, her teeth bit gently into her lower lip, her gaze dropping to the floor. He wasn't happy, and yet again even though she expected it, it made her sad, heart broken she hadn't managed to please him again. He was such a hard teacher to please... sometimes it made her wonder if she'd be as good as she was with Heinrich teaching her, and not Nachnamen... Yes, he was both names, same person but she found it suited his personalities to split up his names too. Heinrich for the softer him, and Nachnamen for the more... strict man.
Nodding her head, she muttered "Yes sir." And rose onto her toes again, carefully and slowly walking from one end of the floor to the other end as she was told to do. She wobbled a few times, almost dropping onto her feet but wouldn't allow it to happen. Adalinda knew that she couldn't cost the man more unhappiness than he was already feeling with her. In a few minutes though, it would be all over. He'd be Heinrich again. The man she loved and couldn't wait to go away with this weekend.
Ada messed up at the very end of her last walk, her feet almost touching the ground with the last few steps remaining. She quickly fixed it though, cursing herself in her head and started all over again without him needing to tell her too. It was pulled off in the end, the last walk better than the first too. Letting her slippers touch the ground once more, Adalinda turned to look at Nachnamen still sitting in his usual chair, her hands hanging down at her sides as she waited for him to speak.

Nachnamen stood a handful of metres in front of Adalinda, his arms crossed, folded together while he slowly nodded in approval.
