Shae's Conglomeration
« on: November 02, 2008, 11:58:15 AM »
Going to sort this into a list of active and non-active characters, and then post longer profiles for each.

Sorting system is bound to update and change...

Active:
Marchelle "Markie" Anlissa Drakenthorn
Tanala and Santos Whitman - "Santana"

Hiatus:
Captain Shalinda
Captain Aerion Blackwood
Naya al'Tourin ma'Kesh
Delta 1294
"Vanity"
Alec Baldwin

Inactive:
(Includes retired characters or concept characters without a game)
I'm including these mostly as an opportunity for piggy-backing, lol.  If you see a character you like, go ahead and model your own off of them, or if you'd like to start a game with them, ask!

Shae Dravenmore
(Retired from MSN Chat)
My first character on MSN!  Ah, memories. :'D  Shae is a multi-world character, i.e, has been used in multiple settings.  She's 21, an orphan, and has been on her own for most of her life (though time alone varies by 'universe').  Almost always at least something of a pick-pocket/petty theif.  Very street smart, and has a very smart mouth to go with it.

Jessie
(Retired from MSN chat)
Daughter of the king of a band of desert gypsies, she left the desert to search for her brother, who went missing 8 years prior, when she turned 16.  Both her brother and she are Windrunners (based off of Sunrunners from the Dragon Prince series by Melanie Rawn).  Jessie is now in her early 20's, and has impressive control of her powers for having had so little training.

Ashlyn
Fortune and Glory - Hiatus
Small-time theif turned major leaguer when she met her partner, Gordo Dinwiddie.  Can turn into a panther at will, as well as a small fluffy kitten (a result of a mage tampering with her natural abilities and placing a curse on her when she tried to steal from him).  Her and Gordo's working relationship turned into an intimate one, but issues from Ashlyn's past has kept her from committing fully, and thus they have a very, VERY unstable relationship.

Delta 1294
"The Stars Themselves" (Dark Waters)

Shalinda
"The Rose of Tarmady" (The Realm RP) - Hiatus
Shalinda is the 17 year old salty sea lass who captains The Rose of Tarmady and the pirates who call her home.  In an age where pirates are a dying breed, and the Palatine hunt them as criminals, the Rose has turned more along the lines of "merchant of opportunity;" they'll plunder any fat merchant who makes a good target, and sell off the goods in various ports along their route, and have no qualms taking out the other pirates who sail the seas.  the Rose is built for speed and power, and all who have come up against her have suffered for mistaking the Rose for an easy target.

Marchelle "Markie" Anlissa Drakenthorn
Age: 22
Race:  Human (mostly...)
Appearance:  Blonde wavy hair, brown eyes, lightly tanned skin
Abilities:  Mage; natural ability to read auras
Personality:  Markie is a quiet, shy girl for about the first five seconds you meet her.  Then she's a bright, bubbly person who loves to laugh and smile, and to see those expressions on her friends.  She makes friends very easily, and feels at home in almost any group setting.  She often knows just the right thing to say to cheer someone up, and is always ready with a hug and a kind word.

"All in a Day's Work" (Open RP)

Background:  Her childhood was a very tough time, for everyone on the island she was born on.  Markie was born in the 3rd year of a 13 year drought, placed on them by the Gods to test their faith.  She was one of the last children born across the entire island, so there are very few people her own age.  After the 13th year, however, prosperity returned, and so did the babies, and Markie now has 5 younger brothers, the eldest of which is 10 years her junior at 12, down to the twins who are 6.
When she was still a child, her magic awakened, and she began attending academy in Frescanvale, where she formed an unusually close bond with the Headmaster, Broderick, who took her under his wing as though she were a neice.  They are very close, and she views him as almost a second father, and a dear mentor.  She also feels that she owes her life to him.  When she was very young, before her magic had emerged, she was playing in the sea with some of the older children when she was attacked by a monster.  It was later discovered that it was a demon that had escaped from a fool's summon.  Likewise, Broderick discovered that it left a tendril of essence within her neck where it cut her, which gave her the blessing - and the curse - of knowing when demons, demonic energies, or demon magic were present within a few miles of her location, though it caused excrutiating pain until she could escape from the range of the energy and pour holy water over her neck.  When she was a youth, and after several failed attempts by highly talented healers to remove it, word got out that she was tainted by demons.  She was placed under trial as a dark witch and for consorting with devils.  Broderick, with the help of the Priestess of the Lady Most Kind, however, proved without doubt that although the energy lingered in her body, it did not effect her or her magic.  Even so, she's been very secretive about it ever since, even more so than she was before.  She hides the mark under a wide ribbon choker, with a small onyx broom as a charm at her throat.
Despite her curse, Markie was amazingly gifted; so much so, that Broderick felt that she could not recieve the full instruction that she needed in Frescanvale.  So, with his backing she applied to the Academy in Ciln, and her home school sent her there with a scholarship to cover transportation, and basic needs until she could become settled in the city.
Everything was going very well, despite having stumbled upon two rather unsavory characters in an alleyway, who had made it their game to follow her around the school.  But it was only a week later that the King and Queen, Lucas and Nesca, were murdered in their bedchambers, and the school was attacked.  At this point, she had no choice but to go with the Doyens of the Manor, and she found that, as time went by, she became increasingly wrapped up in their lives, and the life of the Manor.

Markie was an innocent young woman who came to Ciln from her small island home for an education in magic, but ended up learning a whole lot more, about magic, the world, and herself.

AU#1 - "Blood Money" (Dark Waters - The City)

Background: Born to a rather prominent family from Seattle, Markie is the middle child, and the only girl.  She has two younger brothers, twins, who are juniors in high school, and an older brother who works in their father's business.  She used to have another older brother, but he died when she was only a child.  Markie is currently studying business in college to make her father happy, but her main passion is dancing.  She has been dancing ballroom since about the time she could walk, and is a very accomplished competitor, with many regional titles and high ranking in national and international competitions.  Her dream is to open a studio of her own, and currently has a work/study deal with her current instructor.  When not dancing or at school, Markie works at Java Jam, a small local coffee shop that mostly caters to the local student populations and those who share their youthful, upbeat scene.  There are small concerts in there many nights, and every other night is open mike.
However, Markie's father, rationalizing that he had to work his way through school, is making his daughter do the same, and only contributing a small amount to her total bills.  And between scholarships and the coffee shop, it's not enough to cover everything, which has led to her take a...second job of lesser repute.  She keeps it very well hidden though, even going so far as to disguise herself with illusion spells and take on a second name and persona when she works.  If her father ever found out, he'd disown her, she was certain.

Markie is a student in NYC, working her way through school at Java Jam, a coffee shop that Kivan frequents.  Though she has a few secrets of her own, which will eventually bring her into the workings of the Manor. (Character yet to appear.  Waiting on story advancement.  Come back, Hawk!)

Naya Al'Tourin ma'Kesh
Age: 26
Race: Human + 1/4 Lycan
Abilities: Hightened senses, physical abilities; Mage

"Bad Luck" (Dark Waters)

Naya is a mixed blood, born to a human mother who had an an affair with a half-lycan.  She has the eyes and ears and nose of a wolf, but not the second body, or the gut instinct.  She is, in their eyes, incomplete.  A slight point to her ears and one hunter green eye in contrast to its partner blue are the only outward signs of her lineage.  She is the leader of a team of assassins, small, but respected in the underworld.  Until a mission against a vampire left her pack murdered, and Naya in the vampire's control as his 'pet.'  Her magic (from her mother's side) has been warded, and her voice Silenced, ensuring that she cannot use magic against her captor.

"Vanity"
"Welcome to the New World" (Open RP)

Vanity is one of the remaining survivors of the human race after the Third World War tore everything to hell, and opened the doorway for the things that go bump in the night to come to the surface.  She has recently abandoned her pack, and is now the willing donor and companion of a vampire, whom she has dubbed "Teeth."  She's pretty ticked at him though, because he smashed her bike, "Baby" to bits in his 'capturing' her.

Captain Aerion Blackwood
"Shattered Time, Shattered Honor" (Annex - LoST Gameworld)

Captain of the Rampage, a vessel owned by Whiskey Jack.  After her own ship and crew were destroyed by the Gemeland warship Vengeance, she and her surviving crew was stripped of rank, title and wealth by the Taberet Navy and left as little better than criminals for following the orders of the Admiral in command.  Captain Blackwood has been left with a bitter hatred for both countries, and she has come into Jack's service to further their mutual hate of the two.

Nikkolette "Nikki" Dallion

Age: 20
Occupation:  Circus acrobat, including high wire, trapeze and ribbon dancing

Nikki grew up in the circus with her parents and uncle.  She started training to be an acrobat with her parents when she was 6, and started performing when she was 7.  By 10, she was very talented, and was invited to join other shows, but her parents wished to stay with Mark, and so these offers were, regretfully, declined.  Her uncle Mark owned the circus, and they traveled the country with their show.  She took school lessons from her parents and the other performers which made a sort of extended family, and passed her highschool equivalency when she was 16.  Unfortunately, that was also the year that her parents were killed in a car accident.  Even though she could have gone to other shows at this time, she still remained with Mark, since he was the only family she had left, even when their business began to decline.  These last two years, the circus has been struggling financially, and Mark was forced to take out loans to keep them afloat.  Unfortunately, some of these loans came from less than legal sources, and business never improved.  The owners of these loans have decided that it was time to collect, and so Mark was taken as a 'contestant' to the island, along with Nikki who was in a bad place at a bad time.

Name: Anna/Maiwen
Age: Unknown.  Appears to be mid to upper 20's
Race:  Human
Special Characteristics:  Split Personality

Anna:

Anna is, and always has been, a warrior.  Trained in the art of war and battle since the time she could stand and hold a weapon steady in her young hands, she was raised to be a soldier.  Her first battle came when she was 10.  By 15 she commanded her own platoon in the armies of her country.  At 20, she had so distinguished herself that she was a general of the kingdom's 3rd Army.  She was brutal and efficient, and never knew remorse for the armies that were cut down before the blades of her soldiers, men and women as hardened as she.  But one day, something happened...
Anna never became particularly close to anyone through her life.  She had comrades and lovers, but none that she truly loved.  Except for Markaeus.  They were children together, trained and rose through the ranks together.  Assignments took them to opposite ends of the realm, but still in their hearts they were friends.  One day after a return to the capital after destroying a rebel force, Anna came across a wretched looking creature of a man huddled around a small fire in an alley outside one of the favored taverns of the soldier class.  She gave him only a passing glance on her way to the doors, but paused when he spoke her name.  She realized this poor creature was none other than Markaeus.  Battle had stolen he left leg and crippled his right hand, and after being paid a pittance by the army, was abandoned by those that he had given his life to since his childhood.  Outraged and saddened, Anna took him into her care, first as a field servant (as many high ranking officers had), and eventually, as her lover and companion.
After their reunion, Anna began to change, mentally.  Her judgement came less swift and sharp, she was less prone to brutal outbursts.  She began to soften.  And for a while, there was no problem with this.  She was still effective in her position.  Perhaps too effective.  On the night before a major battle, an assassin crept into her tent as she and Markaeus lay sleeping.  Thinking Markaeus to be the brutal general and Anna his lover, he took a poisoned blade to his throat, and left him to bleed to death as the poison destroyed his mind.  Anna's heartbreak turned to rage when she found her lover murdered and his blood all over their bed, and she led her troops into furious battle.  She rode in the midst of them, slaughtering any who came within reach of her blade, losing sight of the lines between ally and enemy, even cutting down her own men in her blind rage.

Maiwen:

When Maiwen was found, she had no idea who she was, or where she had come from.  She did not understand the armor that she wore, or the blood that covered her.  She took it all off, struggling away from the frightening implements of war, and stumbled across the land and through the forest she found herself in.  She was tired, and hurt, discovering that some of the blood that coated the clothes under the armor was her own, and would have perhaps died from them had the small merchant's caravan not found her lying by the road.  The healer traveling with them took her in, and when she could not provide her own name, the older woman called her Maiwen, after Maiwaena, goddess of those who are lost.
Maiwen stayed with the healer woman for some time, learning the ways of medicine and the holy arts of healing, and became a distinguished apprentice very quickly.  She was a shy young woman, wary of strangers and soft spoken, and frightened of any sort of violence.  In time, she became a healer in her own right, impressing all who knew her with her swift rise in skill and knowledge.  She remained with the healer who had given her life and a name back though, viewing her as a sort of mother figure.
After a few years with the woman, they were once more traveling the road to other towns to share their gifts with those who needed them.  Along the way, they were beset by raiders, who killed their guards and the men traveling with them, leaving only the two healers and the women and children in the train.  They all thought they were doomed to rape and slavery.  But Maiwen acted, shocking all those who were with her.  When a raider reached for her, her reflexes were swift, breaking the man's wrist before he could even register that she had acted, and soon stood pondering the hilt of his own dagger protruding from his chest.  She took the man's sword as he fell to the ground, and turned cold, calculating eyes on the rest of them.  It was a swift battle; the attackers really had no chance.  The last one had tried to run, but fell as a sword ripped through him from behind, thrown by the bloody healer.

After that, Anna reclaimed control of her body, but Maiwen was always a tangible presence in her mind.  They were two people in one body; Anna, the fighter, who had known only violence her entire life, and Maiwen, the manifestation of everything she had been denied, and who had come to life when the blood and violence finally consumed Anna.  They alternate control at times, though it is mostly Anna who is in control, as Maiwen accepts that without her blade, they would both be in danger in their travels.  However, there are times when Maiwen forces control from Anna, and exerts herself to stop potentially dangerous situations, or when she thinks Anna is acting irrationally or unnecessarily violent.

Alias: "Meridion"
Name: Unknown
Age: 26
Race: Human
Special Abilities: Oracle of Past and Future

(Picture several years old, before she lost her eyes)

Appearance: 5'-7", lightly tanned skin, freckles.  Is slender, more often than not is underweight.  Meridion is a drifter, and looks like it, despite the best efforts of her recently acquired companion Brian to dress her better.  Her clothes are ratty, many with patches and frayed hems.  She wears an over-sized men's coat, and typically a pair of well worn black gloves.  Her brown hair hangs to her shoulders and is anywhere from mussed to a rat's nest, depending on the day.  Meri spends very little time looking after herself, simply because she doesn't care and doesn't have the energy to spend on it.  Across her eyes is an equally ratty looking rag with old blood stains over her eyes, knotted tightly behind her head.

History:  Meridion was born with a normal name to normal parents.  She was very bright; gifted, some called her.  She seemed to have natural talent for anything she tried.  She went to the best schools, had impressive connections by the time she was a sophomore in highschool, and was anticipated to go far in life.

When she was fifteen, she started to see things that weren't really there.  In dreams at first, but then as time went on, they came during the day as well.  At first she passed it off as an over active imagination, but a chance flipping through a history book showed her an image that she had seen only two nights ago.  More instances of seeing events from the past came.  Then they started appearing in the daily newspaper.  Meridion knew she was seeing the past and the future, but was afraid to tell anyone; the wars between 'mundanes' and 'others' were bloody at best, and she was afraid her friends and family would turn on her.  So she hid her talents.  Tried to ignore them.  But the images were coming more vividly.
When she was 17, she watched a man cross the diner she and her friends were eating at, and watched him burst into flame.  Screaming, she tried to get someone to help him, but nobody else seemed to see.  In fact, they looked at her like she was crazy.  A minute later, when she looked across the horrified faces of the patrons, the man was just fine, and just as confused as the rest.  So, panicking, she ran.
Two days later, that same man was in a firey car crash.
She started seeing more death in her visions of the future, and the jumps were more random and rough.  One minute, she'd be talking to a friend, the next staring at him as a stranger that she had not met yet.  And when the visions jumped again, she'd start laughing and talking about events that would not happen for many more years.

Meridion was 22 when her visions saved her life.  On the phone with her mother, they were talking about a visit her family was planning to come see her, and all the fun they were going to have together again after so many years of her being at college.  But while she sat alone in her livingroom on the phone, she saw her family gathered around her, and her mother telling her how worried they were, and how they wanted to take her to a doctor.  They were going to institutionalize her.  And she knew what would happen to her behind closed doors with doctors who would see her as a puzzle to be solved, by whatever means necessary.

Since then, she's been drifting.  She learned quickly enough that certain people would pay her for her visions, even if it was pocket change.  It was better than nothing.  Even so, as she grew older and her powers grew with her, she had less and less control of the visions, until almost everything she saw triggered visions.  Pasts, futures, the present in front of her and far away.  She lost her grasp on her own reality in the face of so many visions, and was slowly going crazy.  She put up with it, until the day she looked into a mirror, and saw her own death.  Over and over again, in so many different ways, many of them terrible.  Even looking away could not stop the visions, and in a fit of terrified madness, she clawed her own eyes out.  And, holding them in her hands as those around her screamed in horror, she crushed them.

Life was better after that.  The visions were more managable without so many triggers.  The police had taken her to the hospital after she ripped her own eyes out, and a day later, she simply walked out, humming a soft song to herself and bobbing her head to the music with a serene smile on her lips.  She still sells her visions, and when her mind is clear, can make plenty of money at gambling, but she typically throws it away - literally - having a different appreciation of the world than those around her.

(More coming...)

Name: Santria Tengille

Age: 25

Gender: Female

Race: Hume

Class: Ex-Temple Knight; deserter.  Wanted by the Temple Knights.  Official reason is a rescue search for a missing person, but the true orders are to retrieve her and the stone, dead or alive.

Homeland: Lionel

Faction: Formerly of the Church, her whereabouts and loyalties are currently unknown.

Appearance: Santria is slender and of average hieght, but don't let her appearance deceive you.  She is an accomplished fighter, even for her size.  She stands at 5'-7", with deeply blue eyes and brown hair kept short, typically falling only to her chin.  She bears no distinguishing tattoos or markings, but carries a starburst-shaped scar on her right thigh from an injury when she was young and inexperienced.

Special Skills: A knight of exceptional skill, even for being so young.  She carries two blades, her primary being a two-handed bastard sword imbued with the power of Ice.  Secondary blade is a one-handed short-sword which can momentarily blind opponents.

Background:  Being the daughter of the leader of the Temple Knights, Santria knew no other path she would rather take.  All her life she devoted herself to attaining her Knighthood, and knew no greater honor than the day her father knighted she and her brother, and swore them into the service of the church, to serve under their honorable father himself.  All her life she believed the teachings, and revered none so much as the legend of the Zodiac Braves.  They were the epitome of valor and honor, what every knight should aspire to so that, if ever the day came when the church would have to battle back the legions of darkness, they might emerge victorious again.

Because of her family and her devotion, Santria was chosen for yet one more honor - to be one of those intrusted with such a Zodiac Stone.  She never knew who else recieved one, as they were ordered to keep their possession of it a secret until they were called to use it by the church, or pass it on to a chosen successor, but in confidence, her father told her that he, too, had recieved such a stone, and that he had been the one to suggest her own ascension to those chosen twelve.

However, as the months and years progressed, Santria noticed a change come over her father.  It was subtle at first, making her think that nothing was wrong, but the longer she watched him, the more she became convinced that something was wrong.  He was confused when she brought up conversations they had had years prior, and his mannerisms were different.  He felt...like a different person.  Her concern grew greater when she returned from an extended mission, and found him to be even more changed.  Perhaps not enough for the common observer to notice, but enough for a loving and devoted daughter to see.  She had also begun to feel strange things from her own stone.  Fell whispers in quiet moments of solitude that beckoned her to listen, and yet frightened her at the same time.

However, before she can confront her father about his change, she is sent once more on a mission, this time to Goug to investigate rumors of another Zodiac stone.  While there, she meets a Viera by the name of Frithrika, who tells her a great many things about her stone.  She, too, hears the whisperings from the stone, and warns Santria against them, and tells her a very different version of the Zodiac Braves than what she has learned from the Curch.  She spends much time overher quest speaking with Frithrika, and comes to believe that her father has possibly been posessed by the demon rumored to be in the stone.  Believing her father to be in danger, and in fact, all of Ivalice should the church come into posession of all the Stones, she throws down her vows to the church, and vows anew to keep the Saggitarius stone from them and their agents, and to protect it with her life, even if it should mean facing her own father and brother in combat.

Her father, or rather, the demon holding his body, had grown suspicious of Santria, and so had sent spies after her on her trip to Goug.  Hearing word that she was speaking with the Viera, and assuming that she would defect with the stone, he sent his warriors after her.  A fierce battle resulted, in which Santria and Frithrika emerged the victors, but knowing that others would come, and being badly wounded, Santria gave the stone to her new ally under the promise that it would be kept safe.  They parted ways at this point, both leaving the city under the cover of darkness in different directions, with no word as to where they were going to each other.  Perhaps fate would one day bring them back together...

Name: Frithrika

Age: 72

Gender: Female

Race: Viera

Class: Summoner-Theif, moderate Martial Arts skills

Homeland: Originally from the Viera forests, her most recent home base was Goug, prior to meeting Santria.

Faction: Mercenary

Appearance: 7'-2" to the tips of her ears, 6'-3" at top of head.  Subrace of Rava, with mocha-colored skin and platinum hair.  She has not dyed her hair, finding such minor illusions to be pointless when her features set her apart from the humes she moves among.

Special Skills: Being a Viera, she is very fast and agile, skills which lend themselves well to her journey.  She can call on spirits to spy for her when it is dangerous to go in herself, and can even summon creatures to fight at her side.  It is not known for certain, but it is rumored that in dire situations, she can even summon mighty beings with powers like gods.

She has no elemental magic, however, she has a skillful hand on illusionary spells, even to the point of convincing the very trusting into thinking that she is a Hume.

Background: Little is known about Frithrika's past, as she speaks very little on the matter.  Directed questions will result in vague answers, if she answers at all.  As a patroler on the edge of the viera wood, she heard a different message than those safely nestled within its deep shadows.  The wood spoke of change, and of terrible consequences should the change not be stopped.  Rika left her home to seek out this change, believing that the forest had chosen her to be its protector beyond the leafy boughs, despite the exile she would recieve from her people.  For many years she traveled the land in solitude, listening and seeking, yet finding very little beyond the same whispers that warned her and led her path.  However, her chance meeting with Santria in Goug seemed to be a turning point in her life and hunt.  As a being capable of hearing the voices of the spirits, she was able to hear the whispers from within the stone the young knight kept hidden on her person, and reveal its true nature to the unknowing hume.
After the fight in Goug, she took the stone from the wounded Santria with her promise that it would be kept safe from the church, at all costs.  Their conversations had enlightened the viera as well, and she now believed the Church of Glabados to be the agents of destructive change that the wood had warned her about, and that the destruction would come when they had assembled all the stones.  Therefore, she not only seeks to keep her own secret, but to find the others and steal them away from the church.

Delta 1249 - Product Background

They were the perfect soldiers. At least, that was how the idea had been pitched to the investors back when the project first began decades ago. But, as with any experiements, the first attempts were always flawed. Alpha Series terminated before any of the Serials had even finished incubation. The last to terminate made it no more than a week past that phase. Beta Series was little better; there was steady termination from the end of incubation, and that series ended when the last was about a year and a half.

Charlie Series saw a marked improvement, and good thing, too; investors were getting impatient, and had yet to see any results from their generous donations. The Charlie Series was promising. The indiviual Serials were highly skilled, and excelled at any and every task and training regimen. But, again, the flaws asserted themselves, and spontanious termination began after about year fifteen. The units became unstable, the cognative processes falling apart. Some self-terminated; others had to be put down by force after they became uncontrollable and violent. Some simply ceased to function properly. The Charlie Series had a good run, but only made it to year nineteen before the last termination.

The scientists were frustrated. Theories and notes and suppositions were proving to be largely baseless in actual application, and they had to create the science almost from scratch. DNA engineering, while being a largely successful field in the way of medicine, was behaving very differently when it came to selecting for different traits other than immunity. Strength, speed, agility, cunning, inteligence...almost impossible to pinpoint. But they were getting closer...

As much improvement as Charlie Series had been over Beta, Delta was over Charlie. Incubation and formatory phases went off without a hitch. Deltas were better in every aspect than their predecessors, and the scientists were hopeful that they would finally be able to have working results. After formatory phase, which lasted until about year ten, came reinforcement, which would last until the twentieth year. They'd reached year nineteen, and still no terminations, no indications that they should be worried. They even began to celebrate their successes. On Day 01, Year 21, Implementation Phase began. Delta units were deployed to a few select precincts at first as testing grounds, but favorable results prompted the complete Series deployment. Deltas were living up to their marketing; they were perfect in almost every way; smarter, faster, stronger, hardier than any normal human being. Crime rates were slashed where Deltas were deployed. The people felt safe.

But, always there are flaws...for no creation made by the hands of man can be perfect. The end of year 22 saw the emergance of the first flaws... The mental instability returned. Mental processes were breaking down. Cognitive filters no longer worked as they should. Deltas were...uppity. Simply having the duties were not enough; they felt compelled to be in action almost constantly. This made for some...tragic instances. Situations that could have been handled delicately and with minimal human injury instead resulted in tremendous human and property losses when Deltas ignored the orders of their superiors and responded instead only to their conditioning.
Most Deltas were retired early. The project wished to terminate them, but 'human rights' advocates swarmed the investors and scientists like harpies, and so the Deltas were merely retired. Put in a home somewhere where they couldn't do any damage.

Not all Deltas were retired, however. Delta Unit 1294, while slightly flawed, was still functional at year 27. She was one of perhaps a dozen Delta units still in circulation. But, as all Deltas, she was known for her 'excitability.' She, as many of the Deltas, had too great a range of free thought. She wanted. She yearned. And she needed. And because her filters were patchy at best, these desires came on more strongly than a typical person. 1294 ached for excitement. For action. For the thrill of battle and the rush of excitement that only came when she was in active duty. But life in Tokyo was quiet. Too quiet. Too simple, and easy. Damnit, there was nothing to do! And for an uppity Delta, boredom was a dangerous thing. Even on the Special Forces task force that took on the crime syndicates and their heavy arsenals, it was rare that massive battles like she wanted ever occurred. She was forced to try to exhaust herself in other manners, and only sometimes did those things work.

So it was a joyous occasion, for her, anyway, when her unit recieved intel about a massive pirate ship that was going to be coming into orbit for illicit activities. The entire task force was preparing for this one. The Shades of Grey and her captain was wanted for many things. The list was too long to even begin to comprehend. And Delta 1294 was going to get a chance to have a peice of the fun...

Name:  Alana Martikken

Alias: Lana, Al

Age: 22

Race: Human; light skin, with pale freckles on her cheeks and nose

Gender: Female

Eye Color: Green

Hair Color/Style: Hazelnut brown, shoulder length with natural waviness.  Usually worn up though.

Height: 5'-5"

Weight: 125lbs

Alignment: Good

Siblings: None that she knows of.

Geneology: Family is unknown.  She lives with an old mage named Mathes, who she's always called Grandfather.

Distinguished Characteristics -

Dress: Comfortable, functional.  Typically long pants and long-sleeved shirt of plain colors, with a lighter short sleeved overshirt.  Sturdy boots and a utilitarian belt.

Mannerisms: Alana is typically soft spoken, but can work herself into a temper, especially if she's frustrated.  She's a hard worker, and loves to learn.  Not always the best at physically demanding tasks, but she always tries her best, and if she can't do it on her own, she'll find a way to accomplish it through other means.

Habits (Good/Bad): Will stay up all night if she gets her hand on a new book.  Sometimes has to be guided through finessing a problem rather than headbutting it into submission.  But, once she sets her mind on something, it's hard to talk her out of it (for better or for worse).

Greatest Flaw: She covers up her loneliness and hides it in her studies.

Best Quality: Is very loyal, once you earn her friendship and trust.

Hobbies: When she's not learning or doing chores with/for Mathes, she likes to just sit outside and observe nature.  She has sometimes gone hours watching the clouds go by, or wandered a few miles following a butterfly.

Favorite Saying/Personal Quote: "Right.  Because that's the easy way.  Got it."

Special Talents/Skills: Alana is a mage by birth.  Whatever powers of the world there are, she is gifted with the ability to tap into and manipulate the energy of the world into what is known as magic.  Though her gift is widely considered a curse, and were it not for Mathes taking her in when she was a child, no doubt she would be one of the many nameless, faceless bodies burned by the Hunt.

Intellectual/Mental/Personiality Attributes -

Worst Fear: Being caught and killed for how she was born

Greatest Joy: Practicing and learning magic with her master

Motivation: To master her skills, so that one day, she can teach other mages to use their gifts instead of fear and hate them, and to maybe, one day, prove that mages aren't evil.

Violence -

Fighting Style: Alana is very skilled in using magic, but when that is not an option, she is skilled with a bow and fair with a dagger, though these skills were honed in hunting for food, rather than against human opponents.

Weapon of Choice: Magic

Special Abilities: She is also empathic, in that she can sense other people's emotions, and even that of energy stored in locations.  Where there are strong energy buildups, she can witness scenes from the event that caused that energy to linger.  She can't, however, impart her emotions to others.

Weakness: As with all mages, if she is pierced with iron, her magic is disabled until it is removed from her body.  If left in for extended periods, it begins to have a poisonous effect, starting at weakness and muscle aches and progressively worsening through nausea, dizziness, fever, hallucination, cold sweat, and eventual death.  All mages have a naturally low natural iron content of their blood (interestingly enough, iron poisoning has the same early symptoms of iron deficiency in mundane humans).

Greatest Advantage: Because it's impossible to tell a mage from a mundane just by looking at them, unless someone knows specifically that she is a mage, she can easily hide in new locations.

Partners: None.

Name:  Allessandra di'Tannon la'Massa

Alias: Depends on who you ask.  "Frigid Bitch" is one of the nicer ones.

Age: 34

Race: Human; dark skin

Gender: Female

Eye Color: Black

Hair Color/Style: Black, pin straight and reaches mid-back, though typically worn in a tight, no-nonsense bun.

Height: 5'-7"

Weight: 140lbs

Alignment: Neutral

Siblings: Several that she's forgotten the names of.

Geneology: Parents were simple farming folk, who's family worked the same land for generations.  When she was young, she left her home to study with a master mage who came by her family's stand in the market.  She's never looked back, and never missed the hard, dreary life of the farm.

Distinguishing Characteristics -

Dress: Conservative.  Long skirts, long sleeves, high collars.  Usually in dark colors.  First impressions usually bring 'school marm' to mind.

Mannerisms: Allessandra is formal and poised at all times.  Proper manners are important to her, and she typically looks down her nose at everyone as being lesser creatures.  Despite this, she has a wicked tongue, which she often unleashes on the unsuspecting.

Habits (Good/Bad): She is highly studious, and has received her station and skills because of her hard work.  She detests anyone she views as lazy, and abhors idleness.  Has a highly developed superiority complex.

Greatest Flaw: Her arrogance and cold demeanor sends people running from her, and so she has few personal relationships.

Best Quality: Is meticulous when it comes to her work.  If a task is given to her, you can be assured that it will be completed ahead of schedule and beyond expectations.

Hobbies: Hobbies would imply free time, and free time is idleness.  She is always working on some project or another, either for herself or a client.

Favorite Saying/Personal Quote: "In what perversely twisted world do you believe that I would ever give a damn about what you think?"

Special Talents/Skills: Allessandra is a powerful mage and alchemist, and is well known in her country, and those surrounding it, for her prowess.  She is often sought out by nobles and kings for her skills, and at times teaches at academies.

Intellectual/Mental/Personiality Attributes -

Worst Fear: Being rejected and truly alone

Greatest Joy: Completing a project and adding higher prestige to her name and credits

Motivation: To become the absolute best.

Violence -

Fighting Style:  Allessandra has no skills with weapons, but has no need for them.  She is ruthless with her magic, and has no qualms about using it to kill.

Weapon of Choice: Magic/Alchemy

Special Abilities: Only the strength of her magic, which she has spent years perfecting and honing.

Weakness: As with all mages, power is limited by the availability of energy.  Each spell drains a little from the caster, but this effect can be mitigated through training to maximize the use of energy, or by the use of outside energy sources.  Also, she's allergic to peanuts.

Greatest Advantage: When magic runs out, she has a large collection of enchantments, spelled items or alchemical creations to aid her.

Partners: None.
