Vanessa followed Dietrich outside, glancing over to Morris and Argyle, as they were loaded into a truck. She sighed inwardly, pushing a few loose strands of dirty blonde curls from her face. Blaming herself for all this was damn well easy, but thinking of a possible positive outcome for all this, was not. The woman couldn't help but kick herself mentaly for getting them all into this situation, with no visible solution out of it. If only she hadn't gone back for her damn lipstick!

Getting into Dietrich's vehicle, Vanessa sat as far from him as she possibly could without being outside the closed door. With a forced, sarcastic smile at his words she placed her hands into her lap. "It sounds absolutely splendid, mind if I order a little bit of wine before we have our private little session when we get there?" the sarcasm dripped from her words as she stared at him, unable to put on any form of a fake face. Of course, she didn't have to, once she recieved the blow to her head, putting her out of the worry of having to converse with the German man until they reached the new destination.

Silence filled her ears, as Vanessa slowly came to again. Her eyes began to slowly open with a soft moan of pain as the light seeped into her opening eyelids. Closing them again, she went to raise her hand to her head, but found that there was something stopping her from doing so. What the hell? Forcing her eyes opened, Vanessa looked down at her bound wrists, attached to the chair arms and let out a frustrated sigh. Of course.

"What? You don't trust me?" She asked, unsure whether anyone was in the room or not, as she closed her eyes again, her head was really hurting. Damn...

The room was dark.  Small.  Minute.  The list of adjectives could go on for a long time, but Dietrich stopped it at that.  Vanessa was awake now, and the questions were about to begin.  She had been out cold for a good number of hours, time was non-existant down here but the German had checked a little while ago that it was the early hours of the next day since her capture.  There was a constant draft down here that was so cold it could cut you in two.  For now, Vanessa remained in her clothing that she had been brought in with, but that would soon change if Dietrich found her to be unco-operative.

"My dear, you're a spy for the British Government and the rest of her Commonwealth puppies.  Should you really be asking that question?"  Trust was obviously something that couldn't be placed upon the woman in front of him.  Was 'Vanessa Cameron' even her real name?  Cameron didn't sound exactly Eastern European, perhaps it was an alias she worked under.  "So... still keeping in contact with ol' Colonel Starling?  And your two partners... what's their names?"  Apart from the chair, there was a small table near the door in the corner.  Numerous things were sitting on it, although couldn't be made out because of the darkness.

Vanessa laughed. She couldn't help it. It was a good laugh. A laugh that was loud, and full, but gave her head quite a throb. "What, you think someone like me, who just runs around taking people where they need to go, like a little escort could do some bodily arm to the likes of you? Without a weapon to help me? Come on. I'm not that brutal."

Her eyes slowly opened again, adjusting to the lack of light now that her head wasn't making everything look white. "Look, I don't really know who told you this, or what you picked up from me about that. But, it looks like you seem to know more about me, and what I do.. than I actually know. I was never given the name of whom I work for. Just a description of what I'm supposed to do. How many are there, and where to take them. That's it. The man that gives me my instructions? Just a nameless voice over the telephone. A unknown scribble of writing on a paper. If you say his name is Colonel Starling, alright. I'll take your word for it. I'm sure you know everything by now, don't you. Even when your next soldier boy is going to take a little piss. As for the other two fellows, I don't know. Sherlock and Watson? Why don't you go ask them yourself?"

Dietrich watched her.  His lips turned in to a smile.  Then a chuckle.  Then a laugh that matched hers.  "Yeah, that's pretty funny, isn't it?  Me, scared of a little woman like yourself?  Ha!  I guess you're right.  No, it's not to protect me from your punches and kicks.  It's so that I don't have to hold your hands down when I'm giving you some of my torture.  See, over on that table over there is a few of my tools.  I call them tools because... well... I use them for my work."

Turning his back to Vanessa, he ran his finger along the surface of the table, over the bumps which the numerous things caused on the otherwise flat and smooth surface.  Plenty of knives and sharp objects, as well as blunt ones like hammers.  "Such a pretty body you have.  It'd be a shame to waste it, my dear.  Now.  It's cold down here.  Just as well I wrapped up warm.  Can you feel that?  Feels like... ice."  The German leaned down and removed her shoes and any socks or stockings she may have been wearing underneath them as well.  "Put your feet on the floor.  Nice and cold, isn't it?  Like placing your feet on a frozen pond."

And sure as hell, the stone flooring was absolutely baltic.  Almost... unnaturally cold.  And there was no way that she'd be able to hold her feet up in the air forever.  Sooner or later, they'd grow tired, would ache.  Scream, call out.  And then the nipping pain would begin.

She fell silent at his laugh. It hurt her ears to hear such a man as himself laugh so.. easily. It disgusted her, all of it. Taking in a slow breath, Vanessa closed her eyes. Torture, that's what it always came down to, didn't it? If you weren't willing to talk, to spill your guts to the bad guys, and leave everything exposed to their very, greedy little eyes, they had to find a different way of getting you to talk. There was nothing nice about it. No, of course not. It was always "answer the damn question, or I'm going to make you bleed." whatever, she could handle a little blood. A few bones breaking. A little torture. Vanessa Cameron may not be a fighter, but she sure as hell was loyal to those she put it to, which included Argyle and Morris, wherever they were.

A hiss of discomfort left her lips when he took her shoe off, and placed it on the floor. Damn, it really was cold and she wasn't one much for the chill. Bringing her foot up off the ground quickly, she crossed her legs, making sure to keep enough distance between her foot, and the frigid ground. Vanessa didn't really care whether or not she couldn't keep it up forever, she could for awhile. And when she reached the end point where she just needed to put them down.. she would. Of course, only until she wouldn't get an ache from holding them up any longer.

"Any other questions, Mister Schneider? Because if not, I'd love to finish up here and get on with my life."

Her having to put her feet on the floor wasn't the torture.  What good would he be if the only thing he could do was make her soles a little cold and nippy?  That was just to get her started.  "I've got plenty of questions, my dear.  But then, we can either spend time talking, or get to the action part.  See, I think that as long as I stand here and ask you something, you'l just deny it, or come up with a tough girl comment to reply with.  But if I start chopping things off and causing a little harm to your body, then you might start screaming out what I want to hear."

Taking a pair of scissors, the German officer began to snip.  Snip.  Snip.  Snip.  A sleeve fell.  Part of her top dropped.  Her trousers were now ruined.  More skin came on show.  And soon, her whole human form was naked, exposed, like the day she was born.  It was like a fridge down here, and she would soon be shivering uncontrollably from the slow temperature drop.  As cold as a waltz through Siberia.

"I'll let you in on a little secret, Vanessa.  I really couldn't care less about what else you have to say.  But I've got something else planned on you.  I have a little hobby, well it's more than a hobby, it's something I've been studying for many years.  Me and Fraulein Knapp.  We've been searching, and we're so close to it we can breathe on the damn thing."  By now, he was behind Vanessa, and a sharp object cut in to her shoulder blade.  The knife began to slide to the right, and it was clear that Dietrich was drawing something on her, rather than just stabbing or cutting.

She didn't like being this exposed to him. Having her... body so open to his eyes. It made her uncomfortable. But not enough to make her say something, and let him know. Vanessa wasn't going to show him a sign of weakness, so early into the game. Dietrich was right, of course. Since when did anyone willingly give up information without being a mama's boy? At least this German man was smart enough to know she wasn't going to roll over and expose her belly (metophorically of course since it seemed she already was) without a few sarcastic comments, and him putting a little bit of work behind it. Even then, Vanessa wondered if she could hold strong till death. She told Starling she could without a doubt but.. when it really came down to it.. could she?

She let out a small scream, the pain in her shoulder blade drawing her attention away from the nearly unbearable cold that she was now fully exposed to. Gritting her teeth together, Vanessa tried to pull herself away from the painful blade on instinct, her fingers digging into the arm of the chair. "Sounds very..." taking in a sharp breath, Vanessa finished the sentence, tears rolling down her cheeks, "boring, this hobby of yours. Why not take up something interesting? Like a book club." Gods, it really hurt, and it being so cold, didn't help matters either.

"Oh, the book club isn't until Thursday.  So I've got a few days to do this until the next meeting.  Have you ever read Im Westen nichts Neues?  It's a good book, although maybe not for you.  I picture you being someone a little more interested in romantic novels than war ones."  All the while, he kept this casual small talk going and the scraping at the same time.  By now, her shoulders were covered and scarred with mysterious symbols which only he knew the meaning of.  Not that Vanessa could actually see them.  He stopped, giving himself a break.  There was blood everywhere, her back dripping.

The German left her alone for half an hour, giving her time to cry if she wanted to.  No need to play it brave when there was no one listening or watching.  When he returned, he was rubbing his hands, obviously eager to continue what he had started.  "It's a long process this.  I still have the rest of your body to mark so... I might not get it all done in one day.  Not like you're going anywhere, though."

Despite the fact that her skin was being carved into, with a very sharp knife, Vanessa hadn't been able to resist herself from rolling her eyes at his book club comment. Did she believe him? It wasn't like it mattered, she believed many things about the man behind her with that sharp, painful knife. Like, the fact he was clearly insane. But that was a given, he was German after all. Weren't they all insane? Crazy... completley twisted and not all together in the head? Her short nails dug into the armrests her hands were attached to, tears forcing to spring forward from her eyes. Her jaw was clenched shut, keeping her from screaming out. When he finally stopped, Vanessa let out a soft exhale after realizing she had been holding her breath, the cold was finally starting to get to her and it took her a few seconds to realize, her feet were planted on the ground. She didn't really care anymore, it wasn't as bad as it would have been in the beginning.

The blood dripping down from her scars, left an uncomoftable feeling inside her and she wanted to wipe away the red liquid, but wasn't going to ask the man who had caused it to flow in the first place. "Actually, you're wrong. I'm more of a mystery kind of girl." She said softly, unsure whether or not he heard her.

For the duration of the time that Dietrich left her alone, Vanessa sat there, silently. She didn't want to cry. Wouldn't give him that kind of satisfaction to see the streaks on her cheeks when he returned. Instead, she spent the silent minutes struggling to somehow set her hands free from their restraints. She tugged on them, and shook her arms, trying to get the bindings to come loose, even just a little bit. In a cry of frustration, her head snapped towards the door as Dietrich came back, her mouth closing slowly.

"Why..." she stared at him after he spoke, curiousity taking the better of her. "What is this bullshit with these markings? Are you part of some like... fucking cult?" Jesus christ... he really was insane!

Dietrich didn't give her a reply.  Why did she need to know?  Any more outbursts like that, and he was going to keep her permanently quiet.  Not like he needed anything else out of here, she had passed the initial stages and was the prime candidate for their little organisation.  He hadn't been able to update Adalinda with her status -- she was still in the aircraft -- so the German woman would find out a little later on how he was getting on.  Perhaps a chair wasn't the best method to tattoo the woman, maybe a bed next time?

Having grown tired of her shouting, and questions, and general smart-arse attitude, he shut her up with a piece of fabric which used to be part of her top.  As the hours went by, Dietrich was covering more and more of her skin with the strange and unusual markings.  The arms.  The front of the chest.  Her breasts were decorated with deep, red scratches.  The work was taking too long, but it had to be done right.  If even the smallest of symbols were carved wrongly, then it wouldn't work.  Perfection was the key.

Then came a noise.

Outside the door.

Submachinegun fire.

Footsteps.

The door kicked open.

Guns were aimed.

Chapter II
A Parting Of Ways, Different Journeys.

The familiarity of the place made her feel better. Being back in her own bathroom, with everything in its place, and the front door locked. There was still that small lingering feeling of fear though, sure Dietrich was dead, thanks to her.. but still. If he had found them, if he knew who she had been, anyone could. Vanessa would get over the fear, she knew that much already, but for right now she took the comfort in knowing that Argyle and Morris sat in her living room.
Her fingers traced the smooth porcelin of the bathtub that she occupied for the time being, letting her many, ugly symbol scars soak up the water. Everything had happened so quickly after the gunfire started. She just remembered the door opening, Dietrich being startled and thats when she took her chance. Vanessa had knocked the chair backwards, her teeth biting the inside of her cheek and causing a little bit of blood. Another cut, to go with all the others on her body. Then, before Dietrich had a chance to turn around, she had slipped her body over the chair, raising it infront of her and smashed it into the back of his head, knocking the German man down. It should have been enough then, she still hadn't looked towards the open door but Dietrich was down on the ground. She could have left, but Vanessa didn't. She picked up the knife that had fallen from Dietrich's grasp as he hit the ground and freed herself from the chair before turning on the man and repeatedly stabbing him in the back, cries of anger escaping her each time the blade went into his back, blood soaking her hands, and his shirt.

Next thing she knew, Argyle and Morris had pulled her away, and they were at her small apartment. Morris had brought her into the bathroom, and told her they would wait until she was ready to come out. Vanessa wasn't sure how long ago that was. The warm water had brought back feeling in her body. She hadn't realized how could she had actually gotten in that room. Placing her hands over her scarred breasts, the first tear broke free from her eyes since Dietrich had had his fun with her skin. There was no need to keep a strong font anymore, not in her own bathroom.

After a good cry, Vanessa emptied the tub and slipped herself into the lavander coloured robe hanging on the back of her door before stepping out into the main room, and moved towards the couch where Argyle sat, sitting on the opposite end curling her feet up under her. "You guys are leaving soon, to go back to Britian... aren't you." It was more of a statement, than a question. She already knew the answer to that.
